The method

Crownler draws a site as ground and search as a fight over ground. The metaphor earns its keep by fitting into one drawing what usually lives in five tabs. Here is what it means, claim by claim, and what changes because of it.

Territory is the intent, not the string

People after the same thing write it four ways and ask an AI in a fifth. Counted as five separate keywords, that produces five report lines and no decision.

The unit here is the intent. Every way of asking is kept as a phrasing, together with the surface it showed up on, and all of them point at the same territory. A territory has one page answering for it, and that page is what wins or loses the ground.

One front per surface

The same ground gets won on Google and lost on ChatGPT. Looking only at the organic position hides half of what is already happening.

Each crossing of a territory with a surface is a front, with a state of its own. That is why the screen is a matrix and a list would not do: a list hides exactly the cell that matters.

Today the automatic daily check covers Google and Gemini, and the SERP read also records AI Overview. ChatGPT and Claude are asked in the weekly Reports routine. Perplexity sits in the model and is not measured yet.

The map comes out of the site that exists

The drawing is the output of a crawl of ours. It reads the sitemap, fetches the pages, keeps the title and every internal link, and crosses that with Search Console when the property is connected.

Out of it comes what a spreadsheet never shows: the page that leads the subject, the one that sits too deep, the one no other page cites, and the one still planned that does not exist yet. Every field keeps where it came from: sitemap, crawl or Search Console.

Supplier data is bought on the click

A tool that crawls everything every day pays for data nobody will look at, and charges you for it in the subscription. Here the external call happens when somebody opens the thing they want to see.

The order never changes: if a recent read of that target exists, it comes back at no cost; if it does not, the allowance is debited before the call, the supplier is called, and the result is stored with the real cost and an expiry. On failure, the debit is refunded.

What the tool thinks and what you decide

Every classification keeps two versions: the one suggested by the tool, with the evidence behind it and the version of the rule that produced it, and the one set by a person, with who, when and why.

When the tool runs again and changes its mind about something a person already decided, it does not overwrite. It flags the divergence and leaves it visible. The strategist stays in charge, and the disagreement becomes information instead of a silent fight.

The glossary, once

The metaphor has one law: it names only what we build and move. The Crown is Google, and it is never a rival; a rival is another site fighting for the same ground.

What never becomes a metaphor

LCP, canonical, SERP, backlink, schema.org and anchor text keep the names they already have. Translating an industry term would only slow down the person who already knows the subject.

And whatever leaves the product for the end client leaves with no metaphor at all: monthly SEO report, technical page specification, competitor monitoring.
